The MedTech Academy at SciTech is a small learning community designed around a sequence of courses that fulfill college entrance requirements while building skills that help students gain access to the most cutting-edge and in-demand careers. Students explore the biomedical sciences and find the career that is right for them.

Perks

​MedTech students are eligible for exclusive internships across San Diego County, including Scripps Health Care, Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, Life Sciences Summer Institute and ScienceBridge at UCSD. These opportunities build resumes with experience that gets students hired.

One of a Kind Academy

SciTech is one of only two schools in San Diego Unified School district that offer Biomedical Sciences curriculum by award-winning Project Lead the Way. In these unique courses, students interact with biomedical concepts in project-based, hands-on learning.

Participation in the MedTech Academy includes:

  • Internship Program

  • Small Learning Community with Cohorted (grouped) Classes in a Specially Designed Sequence

Attendance:

Attendance at school is always imperative. In the MedTech Academy it is even more important because of the commitment of our industry partners and community to educate future workers and professionals. It is expected that MedTech Academy students will have exemplary attendance. Failure to adhere to this standard will result in school and Academy consequences.

​Professional Behavior and Attitude:

Since we frequently interface with the industry community, it is important that behavior and attitude reflect knowledge about our specific pathway; behavior that respect the rules and regulations of that industry; a professional demeanor and appearance; and an attitude of enthusiasm and seriousness regarding school, the MedTech Academy program, and each student’s goals.
